Hello Nic,Thanks for posting. The drivers for the FireWire 410 do not support OS X 10.8.5. The last version released before this product was discontinued supports OS X up to 10.7.3.Here's that download page:This may be the reason it is not working properly. Also, try connecting the FW410 to different FireWire ports and with a new FireWire cable. Do not use any adapters or hubs; just a direct FireWire cable connection.Be sure to never 'hot plug' your FireWire 410. Only disconnect or connect FireWire devices after the computer is completely shutdown/closed. Hello Nic,Thanks for posting. The drivers for the FireWire 410 do not support OS X 10.8.5. The rise and fall of FireWire—IEEE 1394, an interface standard boasting. Macs of the era had three different round connectors; PCs likewise had a. You just have to buy a new cable rather than replace or repair the device. A Firewire cable is a peer-to-peer connector, meaning any device can be a host or client. A USB connects point to point via a port. Firewire cables allow multiple.

Only disconnect or connect FireWire devices after the computer is completely shutdown/closed. I've now been victimized twice by audio hardware vendors deciding to end support for somewhat-older, but perfectly usable audio interfaces/cards.

My FireWire 1814 interface is still viable on my Mac Pro 1,1 running 10.7.5; there is a known workaround to get the 1,1 to run newer OS versions - if/when I do it, then I'll have to decide whether to buy a new audio interface, or keep a 10.7.5 partition around for use with the FW 1814.Previously, I had a perfectly fine Korg 1212 I/O interface that was abandoned by its maker when they decided not to write OSX drivers for it. Naturally, vendors want users to buy their new hardware, so they stop supporting the existing interfaces.
I suppose this is pretty common. I've now been victimized twice by audio hardware vendors deciding to end support for somewhat-older, but perfectly usable audio interfaces/cards.
